SeaVeyors Environmental and Marine Services Limited was incorporated in 2006 by Ken Wing, a commercial fisherman and Darren Horler, a commercial diver.
Ken’s contract with the Herring Conservation Society to conduct herring dive spawn surveys was the catalyst that led to discussions of future business possibilities. It became apparent that by combining their individual resources and skillsets, Ken and Darren could form an ROV and Diving company that would serve the needs of the marine industry.

Protocols for marine environmental monitoring to support the Finfish Aquaculture Waste Control Regulations were established and specified by the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection (WLAP) in 2002. These protocols ensure that high quality data is collected, enabling WLAP to make sound decisions as to whether environmental standards are being met.
Under the regulations, a base-line survey is required before a new fish farm is built. We conduct initial and follow-up ROV surveys under WLAP's "hard bottom" protocol. We provide video surveys of "hard bottom" in accordance with the finfish aquaculture waste control regulations. We also conduct diver-assisted surveys where required. Our diving & ROV services include habitat surveys in water of all depths. Our surveys meet or exceed protocol requirements.
The WLAP ROV protocols were developed with regard to the aquaculture industry. However, these protocols may also be relevant to monitoring or assessing impacts of other anthropogenic activities:
We conduct marine and aquatic ROV surveys around new and existing industrial and infrastructure development for debris and lost equipment. Related problems can frequently be mitigated using the capabilities of our ROV. We develop planning to remove anything not immediately removable using the ROV.
When searching for lost objects like air planes and boats we use sounding equipment along with our ROV to locate the objects. The Rov is deployed to search the area in a pre-determined pattern and produces a visual record while recording the GPS location of the found object, which can then be used to facilitate recovery.
TopWe assist with the appropriate placement of anchors and moorings. Anchors are deployed using surface indicators to guide their placement. An inspection can determine if the anchor line is touching any outcropped rocks and if the blocks are positioned as intended.
We also survey for storm or time related dragging, wear, chafing or other damage. Detached or damaged anchors and mooring equipment may often be retrievable using ROV capabilities.
We survey for the best placement of marine outfalls. We also survey for time or accident related damages. Outfalls require periodic inspections to ensure there is no damage to the pipe and to verify that the end of the pipe is free of debris. Outfalls also require periodic environmental impact surveys to ensure they are compliant with the protocols in place.
We assist in the investigations of insurance and liability claims related to sunken or damaged marine equipment, cargo and vessels. ROV surveys can aid planning for recovery.
We conduct base line surveys for new developments or expansions of existing ones.
We inspect for sedimentation and damage at operating facilities. Our ROV can be used where conventional diving is not feasible. The ROV can reach greater depth and difficult to access locations. Our clients frequently prefer to use our ROV for dam inspections because doing so may not require a 100% lockout of the facility that is often needed when a diver is involved.
In addition, we can complete and submit company checklists that include the condition of potable water tanks, ladders, hatches, access roads and the presence of biological activity such as bird nests. We report on seepage or staining around structural components and remove sediment.
TopWe are able to monitor and survey deep-water herring spawning. We can determine spawn thickness in layers and total area covered using our tracking system.
ROV technology enables us to discreetly sample benthic habitat. We can select individual specimens and precise areas of marine sediments. Live transport can be arranged.
When a site is at peak biomass the government requires a 3rd party surveyor to come in and perform a Video Survey with an ROV on a hard bottom site and a Sediment Sample Survey on a soft bottom site. Our tracking system and laser scale allows us to produce surveys that are compliant with government requirements.
We lower a Benthic Grab to harvest samples from the bottom which can then be tested to determine content.
